I studied at Edinburgh College of Art for my BA Honours Degree in Illustration and Graphic Design. Our year had the misfortune of not having the City Art Centre booked for our degree show so had to make do with a makeshift version at Burtons on Princes Street- not exactly a well known art gallery! To compensate for the disappointment I took a stand (literally as well as metaphorically) at a Freelance Trade Fair- all the way to London to meet two lovely representatives from DC Thomson’s in Dundee!

After that I worked for a number of their magazines doing short story and feature illustrations for Jackie and Blue Jeans, a cartoon strip for Catch and latterly cartoons for an Embarrassing Moments feature in Shout.

Other freelance work has come from Collins Books, Pearson Educational Publishers, the RSPB, Dumfries & Galloway Council as well as Design Studios and private commissions. A project for Dumfries Museum took my work on a new, slightly slanty, direction. My drawing of the museum was nicknamed ‘The Funky Windmill' and was the start of a new phase and style to my work- examples of which you can see here!
